Permaculture + No-till garden, natural apiary

33 Zen Lane

Founded in 2020, we are a 2 acre urban homestead in Auburn, Maine. Our ongoing goal at 33 Zen Lane is to evolve into a permaculture food forest full of fruits, vegetables, and medicinal herbs to share with our community.

We utilize chemical-free, no-till methods that aim to protect our native pollinators and plants. Our beekeeping practices are mindful and minimally invasive. Using the natural beekeeping practices of Dr. Leo Sharashkin as our guide, we are always transforming and improving our growing apiary as we learn more from the bees.

We produce the honey and beeswax for our products, and grow/sustainably wildcraft most of our medicinal ingredients, purchasing what we don’t have from other organic sources.

We also have a small number of chickens and quail, which we hope to share surplus eggs from soon!

All products are made in our licensed kitchen with ServSafe certification.

About Us

Welcome! Amber and Joey here, the women behind everything at 33 Zen Lane.

We share the homestead with our two teenagers, Silas and Malachi, a border collie named Scout, feline friends, an assortment of chickens and quail, many thousands of bees, and many species of medicinal plant friends.

Amber is a native of Appalachian Kentucky and draws much influence from the folk herbalism of her childhood. She has studied herbalism independently for over ten years and has completed courses with Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine and The School of Evolutionary Herbalism. Amber is also passionate about mental health. She continues to work in this field and to integrate this knowledge into her herbal practice.

Joey is a native Mainer who has been preparing amazing food in restaurants all over the state for over twenty years. She currently works in the cannabis industry, turning plants into delicious, edible medicine.
